Good Will

I wonder how far you can get on good will and spiritual need. People are tied to the land on which they live. If you’re in a city and surrounded by concrete and steel (you poor bastards), there’s a certain element to that. If you can thrive in that element, that clinical, right-angled and structured web of human construct, there’s strength in that. For others, living closer to a natural state of things is important. The wide open spaces, vast forests, birdsong, the sound of wild grasses rustling finally after a long winter.

And these spaces we’re tied to don’t have to be large. If a person can find their peace on a bench in an inner city park, or on the lush sitting chair in the lobby of a skyscraper (have you thought about that word, “skyscraper?”), then all the power to them. Sometimes it doesn’t take the vista of a mountain valley to fill a person’s soul. History has proven that spiritualism has done quite well in the recesses of caves, or the basements of castles, on battlefields.

My point is this: After 16 years Tricia and I are leaving the Bow Valley in September. Almost two years ago we purchased a piece of land in the Marron Valley and will be building a small home there. We have three acres of an awkward and challenging but perfect hillside; sagebrush, Pondersa Pine, White Spruce.

We aren’t entirely sure what we’re doing, but it’s something we have to do. This is definitely not a “grass is greener” situation, just that the grass is different.  The decision hasn’t come easy, but it has been made.

There’s a lot more to be written about this.

With love,

Kevin

I remember when you came to the valley. Please don’t get a job at a fish market again!
    Fair winds Kevin and Tricia!
